Bigot? That’s Bullshit Brown…

by Adrian on 29 April 2010

After the almighty faux pas by the British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown where he called a long term Labour supporter (both old and new flavours) “a bigoted women”,  I felt I needed to understand fully what all the fuss was about.

I decided to look up the word ‘bigot’ to get a complete definition and see just how insulting he had been to Labour voter, Gillian Duffy from Rochdale.

As you can see, a bigot is basically “a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from his own”:

I then repeated the same search* for the word ‘Brown’ and was amazed to see the similarity between the two:

I find it incredible that just because Gillian Duffy decided to express her concern about the high levels of immigration in the UK,  she then got labelled a bigot. How is it bigoted to be worried about the high level of immigrants flooding in to the UK? Just because this is a sore the MPs don’t seem to want to address, doesn’t make someone a bigot just because they voice their concerns.

Gordon Brown’s answer to Gillian Duffy’s comment about there being a million immigrants, was that a million Brits had moved abroad, thereby ‘balancing the books’ presumably? The difference being, I would imagine, is that it is unlikely many of these Brits left the UK because of the attraction of free welfare, health care and education. Sun, sand and Sangria being more like it…

Next, I’m off to see if I can create a phrase using the words ‘pot’, ‘kettle’ and ‘black’.
